Welcome!

We are so glad you are here. The District 56 Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) is a nonprofit group dedicated to providing the students of D56 support for their educational and recreational needs and to promote open communication between the administration, teachers, and families.

The D56 PTO serves the community in 4 ways:

  • We facilitate community events and enrichment activities

  • We fundraise to grant teacher requests and scholarships and sponsor school and family activities

  • We provide a forum for open communication between families

  • We foster an environment of inclusivity

Who is in the PTO? If you are employed by District 56 or have a student in D56 schools, you are a member of the PTO! Our organization is led by a board, comprising of co-presidents, a treasurer, a secretary and committees. These positions are elected and turn over every 2-4 years to encourage fresh perspective and equitable representation.

We are committed to making District 56 the best place for students, teachers, staff, and families and we work closely with the district administration to achieve success.

Curious? We invite you to attend a meeting and get involved. It's no secret - building community and providing support is hard work! We live by the philosophy that many hands makes light work.

If you would like to come alongside us, either for a reason or for a season, please reach out or attend our next PTO meeting.
